Mitsuru Fujita was born in Tokyo in 1934, and for over 40 years ran his own commercial photography agency "Fujitaman". This book collects black and white landscapes he shot throughout mainly rural Japan from 1995 to 2008. We can call these landscapes, but perhaps it's more accurate to call them "townscapes". As such, the book is a wonderful journey through the vernacular architecture of small-town Japan. The title Zaisyo means "one's living place" or "one's hometown".
